How AgriTrack SA complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013.

The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013, is South Africa's primary data protection legislation. It came into full effect on 1 July 2021. AgriTrack SA is committed to full compliance with POPIA and to protecting the personal information of every customer.

Our Information Officer

Under POPIA, every organisation that processes personal information must designate an Information Officer. AgriTrack SA's Information Officer is responsible for handling all POPIA-related enquiries, access requests, and complaints.

The 8 Conditions of POPIA We Follow

POPIA requires that personal information is processed according to 8 conditions. Here is how AgriTrack SA meets each one:

AgriTrack SA takes full responsibility for ensuring personal information is processed in accordance with POPIA. Our Information Officer oversees all data practices.

Processing Limitation

We only collect personal information that is necessary to provide the AgriTrack SA service. We do not collect excessive or irrelevant information.

Purpose Specification

We collect information for a specific, clearly defined purpose: to set up and operate your AgriTrack SA account. We do not use your information for any other purpose without your consent.

Further Processing Limitation

We do not use, share, or sell your personal information for purposes beyond those stated. We do not pass your information to third parties for marketing or profiling.

Information Quality

We take reasonable steps to keep your personal information accurate and up to date. You may update your details at any time by contacting us.

Openness

We are transparent about what information we hold, why we hold it, and how it is used. This POPIA page and our Privacy Policy document our practices clearly.

Security Safeguards

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from loss, damage, or unauthorised access. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users and the Information Regulator as required by law.

Data Subject Participation

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information at any time. Requests will be processed within a reasonable period, not exceeding 30 days.
